Not Easily Broken is a family band from members of the Hess family. We are located in the Northwest near Seattle, WA.
The band began about 5 years ago with the two oldest Hess boys, Clayton and Clark, playing at local farmers' markets. Third son, Camden, wanted to get in on the action and joined his older brothers a year or so later.
Another year passed and fourth son, Caleb, joined in. Around that time, mom and dad, Sally and Ben, decided to add in some back up and vocals.
We are now beginning our 3rd year of playing together as a family. And the kids keep coming...younger sisters Kelli and Katie, are practicing up so that they can begin playing with the family too this year.
We love playing bluegrass music--gospel, traditional and newgrass. We also like to add in some Johnny Cash, country, and folk just to mix it up a bit.
Our Ambition
Playing music together as a family has grown the relationships inside our family significantly. When you play music together, you have to agree on everything--the song, the singer, the speed, the breaks, etc. Having to work out all the details of playing a song together forces us to understand each other and respect each other. While that is not always easy or natural, it does come together as we keep at it! Each song we perform for you displays our family's love, respect, and enjoyment of each other. Our hope is to encourage our listeners to engage their own families in whatever their passions are and grow their relationships with their loved ones.
