What a perfect day! We went to Whidbey Island today with another family--the Ross family--and had a wonderful time on the beach at Double Bluff State Park. If you recognize the name, yes, it is the name of one of our songs. Clayton wrote the song we play called "Double Bluff" and it is named after this beach.
To get to this beach, you must take the Mulkiteo ferry to Whidbey Island. Then it is just up the main road about twenty minutes on the left. The ferry took about 2 1/2 hours today. Ugh. It is not usually that bad.
But it was so worth the wait once we got there. We had a picnic lunch and cooked supper over a campfire in the evening. The kids swam, caught crabs, made driftwood forts, hiked and laughed and played all day. We had corn on the cob, hot dogs, and marshmallows. And after dark, the beach was lit up with fireworks! What a perfect day!
Tomorrow we play at a friend's 4th of July party. I am sure we will have more fun and laughter with friends as we celebrate our country's birthday. Thursday night we played at an open mic at Crossroads Mall. It was a little stressful getting down there after a busy day at home. But we made it and had a good time.
I better get to bed...I am tuckered out! Days like this make me so happy to live in Washington.
